Refreshingly different, reassuringly traditional, Pilgrims’ Way are a 3-piece band with a big personality and big sound.

Playing their own particular brand of Folk music, they were brought together by a series of chance meetings at sessions around the North West of England, bonding over red hair and a shared love of traditional music, they have been shaking up assorted kitchens, public houses and folk venues ever since.

Their influences individually are many and varied but they share a deep respect for the tradition and take as their inspiration some of the most influential bands from the 60s/70s revival.

Named for the Rudyard Kipling poem, set to music by the great Peter Bellamy, their aim is to present gimmick-free English folk of the finest kind.

Born & raised in Pasadena, California, Guy Tortora is now settled in London, in the UK. He was began playing guitar from the age of 11, and started playing and performing in bands from junior high and high school days in Pasadena, and later around Southern California, soaking up the rich influences of the incredible music scene there in the 60′s and 70′s when he also travelled widely across the USA and Canada.

What he does as a songwriter and performer is what people like to call Americana these days  –  a hard term to define as it seems to mean different things depending on who you’re talking to.  But if to you it means original songs, well constructed and well performed, in some of the various musical idioms that originated in the USA  –  blues, jazz, folk and roots  –  and also interpreting the work of other writers in these genres with depth and feeling, then you should check out his work if you haven’t already.

Jez Lowe’s band, The Bad Pennies, have been one of the high points of the international folk scene for over a decade, frequently touring to the USA, Canada, Australia and beyond! This time they are touring Jez Lowe’s new studio album ‘Jack Common’s Anthem’ as well as a prestigious back catalogue of classics. Jez Lowe was recently described as ‘one of our best songwriters’ by BBC Radio 2 and his songwriting work for the BBC ‘Radio Ballads’ series was honoured by a SONY Radio Academy Award. In December 2007 he was nominated for the BBC Radio Folk Awards as ‘Folksinger of the Year’. His lively, toe-tapping melodies and bittersweet lyrics are complimented by the excellent band line-up of Kate Bramley (fiddle/ duet vocals), Tyneside champion Northumbrian piper Andy May (pipes, whistles, piano) and fretless bass supremo David de la Haye
(bass/ vocals).
